The Cupra Formentor VZx is the most famous among more than 7000 indications of enthusiasm from Australian consumers for the forthcoming Spanish brand Cupra Australia. It’s simple to understand why. Moving onto the Formentor VZe connector hybrid, which we have not yet had a chance to test drive, the manufacturer forgoes the 2.0-litre engine in place of a turbocharged 1.4-litre four-cylinder petrol car with just an electric engine and lithium-ion battery cell, for output values of 180kW & 400Nm.

When the battery is fully charged, the performance is brisk

The VZe produces 180kW & 400Nm total power from a 110kW 1.4-litre turbocharged gasoline engine and an 85kW electric engine, as we have mentioned already in this Cupra Formentor review. Whenever the battery is ultimately charged, this results in brisk acceleration in the city. It starts in electric mode by default, and as long as you don’t press too hard upon that accelerator, it handles and produces lots of quick torque like just an electric car. Push the gas pedal down, and the motor will start. Once the battery has reached a particular discharge, the petrol engine likewise starts. It is possible to configure the engine to act as a producer for the battery, ensuring that the total charge remains at a certain level. If necessary, it may also replenish the battery.

This 2022 Cupra Formentor VZx is Apple CarPlay compatible

Cupra Formentor VZx features a 12.0-inch multimedia display and a 10.25-inch HD instrument panel display. In addition, AM/FM, wireless and wired Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and integrated navigation are included in the bundle. However, DAB radio could be better.

What’s the interior like of the Cupra Formentor VZx?

It almost looks like the Leon hatchback’s compartment, which is close relative to the above cars. You have the stout little shift-by-wire finder and the available 12-inch touchpad navigation system. The inside is a Frankenstein’s monster, but despite having controls for the headlights and shifter from a Golf, electric parking brakes from an Octavia, and on-off and driving mode switches from an Audi TT & R8 on the wheel, this does not look like a bits bin partnership.

It fits together reasonably nicely and has a unique personality. The company’s bull-shaped emblem is boldly imprinted in bronze just on the steering wheel, and indeed the air conditioning vent surrounds and numerous trim elements all sport the Spanish brand’s distinctive shade of bronze. Bronze also dominates Cupra’s interior design. The panel, doors, steering column, and seats all have golden stitching.

The Luxury and Power kit includes heated forward seats, an electrical memory driver’s seat, a powered tailgate, a Beats audio system, memory reflectors, and a panoramic sunroof. The top-of-the-line VZx comes standard with leather and luxury package components. Special petrol blue trimming, a Supersport steering column, and other features. Brembo front brakes are an option for the VZx. It has 370mm front discs as opposed to the 340mm component that comes standard.
